Privacy Policy

Overview
ScoreBlur is a browser extension that automatically blurs supported score spoilers to help you avoid seeing spoilers. Your privacy is important to us, and this policy explains how we handle your data.
Data Collection
ScoreBlur does not transmit your browsing history, visited URLs, or page content.
Score detection and blurring happen locally in your browser. Page text and media are processed only on your device so the extension can hide supported score spoilers.
For paid access, license recovery, and billing support, ScoreBlur handles the limited license and installation data described below. The optional feedback and support forms send data only when you choose to submit them.
Report a Problem Form
ScoreBlur includes an optional Report a Problem form in the Settings page. When you choose to submit a report, the following data is sent through the ScoreBlur license resolver to Google Forms:
- Feedback type (Bug, Feature Request, or Other)
- Website URL where the issue occurred (if you provide it)
- Your description of the issue or suggestion
- Extension version number
This data is transmitted only when you explicitly click "Send Report." No data is sent automatically.
Support Form
ScoreBlur includes an optional support form on the public support page. When you choose to submit a support request, the following data is sent through the ScoreBlur license resolver to the ScoreBlur support inbox:
- Your reply email address
- Your name, if you provide it
- The support topic you choose
- Your support message
This data is transmitted only when you explicitly click "Send support request." Do not include card details or full license keys in support messages.
Your message and reply email are used solely to respond to your support request; they are not used for marketing or analytics. Your IP address is used only to apply temporary, per-request rate limits that protect the form from abuse, and is not stored or shared for any other purpose.
Uninstall Feedback
If you remove ScoreBlur, your browser may open an optional, anonymous feedback page. Opening the page sends no data about you: its address contains no identifiers, license information, or device data.
If you choose to submit the short survey on that page, only the following is sent through the ScoreBlur license resolver to Google Forms:
- The removal reason you select
- Your optional free-text comment
The survey is anonymous by design — it asks for no email, account, or device information, and nothing is sent unless you explicitly click "Send feedback."
Anonymous Error Reports
If the extension's own code encounters an unexpected internal error, ScoreBlur sends a small technical report through the ScoreBlur license resolver to Google Forms so the bug can be found and fixed. The report contains only:
- The error message, with any web address removed before sending
- The location of the error inside ScoreBlur's own code files
- The ScoreBlur version, Chrome version, and which extension component failed
- A short technical checksum of the error, used only to group identical errors together
Error reports never include page content, visited addresses, browsing history, your license key, device identifiers, or anything that identifies you. Expected everyday events (such as a dropped network connection) are not reported, identical errors are reported only once, and reports are capped to a few per browser session. This data is used solely to maintain the reliability of the extension's single purpose — blurring supported score spoilers — and for nothing else.
Payment Processing
ScoreBlur is a paid extension. A free trial is available, after which a subscription (monthly or annual) or a one-time lifetime purchase is required to continue using it. Trial length and license terms are described in the Customer Terms.
Payments are processed by Freemius, our Merchant of Record, on a secure hosted checkout (checkout.freemius.com). When you make a purchase:
- Your payment details (credit card, billing info) are handled entirely by Freemius and its payment processors — ScoreBlur never sees or stores this information
- After purchase you receive a license key, which the extension activates on your device
To activate, validate, deactivate, recover, confirm that the license matches the ScoreBlur version you are using, and manage your license, the extension sends limited license and installation data to Freemius (api.freemius.com) or ScoreBlur's license resolver:
- Your license key
- A randomly generated device identifier (UUID)
- The Freemius activation/install ID and install token returned by Freemius
- A device title based on browser, operating system/version when available, and a short local device code, such as "Chrome on Windows 11 PC - Device code A7K9", so you can identify devices when managing activation slots
- Install metadata used for license/device management and aggregate product analytics: extension version, Chrome version, browser language, and an approximate region derived from the browser language setting
The approximate region is not GPS, IP geolocation, or precise location data. No page content, browsing activity, or visited URLs are sent with license requests.
ScoreBlur may also request current plan pricing from the ScoreBlur license resolver so the Settings page can show up-to-date monthly, annual, and lifetime prices. This pricing request does not include page content, browsing history, visited URLs, or your license key.
Local and Sync Storage
ScoreBlur uses Chrome's storage APIs to save your preferences and license information, such as:
- Whether the extension is enabled or disabled
- Temporary pause settings (duration and type)
- License status (license key, device ID, activation/install ID, plan, expiration date, last verification timestamp)
Device-bound license data is stored locally in the browser profile where you activate it. ScoreBlur does not sync the license key, Freemius device identifier, random device UUID, activation/install ID, install token, or card-free trial-start marker through Chrome Sync. Chrome Sync may store only non-identifying license refresh signals so an already activated browser profile can re-check its own local Freemius install.
If checkout completes but activation does not finish, ScoreBlur may temporarily save the license key and failure reason locally so it can retry activation without opening a duplicate checkout.
Development Logging
Development builds of ScoreBlur include diagnostic logging stored temporarily in your browser's session storage. These logs are never transmitted to any server and are automatically cleared when your browser session ends. Production builds (the version you install from the Chrome Web Store) do not include this logging.
Permissions Explained
Third-Party Services
- Google Forms — Used to receive optional bug reports and product feedback (including the optional anonymous uninstall survey) and anonymous error reports as described above. It is not used for payment, license, subscription, refund, activation, or account support.
- Resend (resend.com) — Email delivery provider used to send optional support form submissions to the ScoreBlur support inbox and to send ScoreBlur trial activation emails. It receives the reply email, optional name, topic, and message from the support form solely to deliver them, and only when you actively submit the form.
- Freemius — Our Merchant of Record for payment processing, license activation, license validation, activation-slot management, billing, account support requests, and aggregate product analytics. Payment details are handled entirely by Freemius and its processors; ScoreBlur never sees or stores your card details.
- ScoreBlur license resolver — Used to verify Freemius checkout redirects, return the license key to the extension after purchase, verify manually entered license keys before activation, move a license activation to your current device when needed, open the Freemius customer portal for billing/license management, check license-event revision signals from Freemius webhooks so the extension can re-verify local license state, retrieve current plan pricing for display in Settings, forward optional feedback submissions to Google Forms, and deliver optional support form submissions to the ScoreBlur support inbox.
ScoreBlur does not use advertising networks, personalized advertising, or browsing analytics, and does not sell user data.
Data Deletion and Account Help
You can remove ScoreBlur's local browser data at any time by uninstalling the extension or clearing the extension's site data in Chrome. This removes local settings and local license cache from that browser profile.
For Freemius account, billing, subscription, refund, license, activation, or data deletion requests, use ScoreBlur Support from Settings or contact support@scoreblur.app. License and billing actions may route you to Freemius. If you cannot access the extension, use the account and license links in the Freemius email sent after your trial or purchase.
Limited Use
ScoreBlur's use and transfer of information received from the extension, and from any Google APIs, adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We use the limited license and installation data described above only to provide and support the extension's user-facing features. We do not sell user data; we do not transfer it to third parties except as needed for the payment and license services described above; we do not use it for advertising; and we do not use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this privacy policy, the changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Significant changes will be communicated through the extension update notes.
Contact
